To all those who have been entranced by their own talent, be aware of its dark side, for today’s story will immerse us in the tragic destiny of Arachne.

 Does the name sound familiar? 

In a world not so different from ours, there lived a woman named Arachne, famous for her talent in weaving marvelous tapestries. Foolishly lured by her success, she dared to challenge the one and only Athena to a weaving competition, genuinely believing that her creations could surpass a divine performance. Truth be told, as Arachne was confidently outperforming the goddess, Athena, refusing to be defeated by a mere mortal, struck her opponent on the forehead, transforming her into a tiny creature destined to spin and weave for the rest of her life. 

This is the story of the first arachnid (spider for some, etymologically connected to the word spinner ), a magnificent woman whose vanity and hubris led her to a brutal and cobwebbed fate.
